The "scouter" was first introduced by the Saiyan warrior Raditz when he
came to Earth looking for Goku. Various forms of the same device were
used by several other people yet all served the same function; to
determine the Powerlevel of a target. They also allow communication over
great distances. In the world of DB:I scouters function in basically the
same way. Every scouter has two powerlevels associated with it, the PL
needed to equip it and the maximum PL it can scan. If a scouter scans
beyond it's maximum range then it malfunctions and displays no useful
information.
There are various means by which to acquire scouters, but the simplest
is to buy them from any of the many shops that carry them. In order to
use a scouter it must first be equipped. After that you're able to scan
targets or directions, see 'help scan' for more information. You'll see
a "mini-display" when using the "look" command that will show you the
directions of the exits to the room you're in.
Scouters also have several advanced features that can be accessed in two
ways. First the enhanced mapping feature can be toggled by the "config"
command, simply by using config +enhanced to activate, or
config -enhanced to deactivate. Note: This is automatically enabled in
the starting area. The other functions can be found by using the
"scouter" command. The following is a list of those functions, accessed
via scouter <feature>:
Frequency: Used to change frequency from 1 to 32000.
Display : This will show the various information about your scouter.
Transmit : Toggles the transmit function on/off. When active anything
you "say" will be transmitted on the frequency you selected.
Receive : Toggles the receive function on/off. Must be activated in
order to hear what people are transmitting on your frequency.
Encrypt : This is currently non-functional
Smash : Sometimes you just get mad, and you just need to break
something. For those times we have "scouter smash". This is
pretty obvious in what it does, basically making you pull a
Vegeta-esque move and smash the scouter because of it's
uselessness.
Transport: This allows access to the teleportation system of your ship.
First things first you need a ship, and then you need to
upgrade it with the appropriate feature in order to have
access to this command. See 'help ships' for more information
