SCAN
Keywords: SCAN
Once you have aquired and equipped a scouter you can use the "scan"
command. This allows you to scan players or mobs and read their
powerlevel. Scouters all have a maximum powerlevel that they can
read, which you are able to view via analyze or scouter display.
Generally speaking the higher the PL requirement to use the scouter,
the higher it can scan. You can also scan rooms next to the one
you're in using "scan <direction>".
The effect of scanning in a direction is the same as if you were
scanning something right next to you, however it is very helpful if
you want to know what's ahead. This way you won't be instantly
killed by a mob that may be aggressive and attack the minute you
walk in. You can also see items in rooms when scanning in a
direction.. which can prove useful if used strategically..
Unlike the scan command, sense does not have any such limitations.
See 'help sense' for more information.
Androids are different than organic beings, and as such they have
scanners built into their body which work in much the same way as
traditional scouters. The main difference is that the limit on an
androids scanning ability is relative to it's techlevel; a higher TL
means the android can scan higher PLs. Also, androids have two scan
functions that aren't present in regular scouters. See
'help androidscan' for more information.
Androids can wear regular scouters, however their scan function will
be limited to the range of the scouter.
