  Strength (STR in your 'score') represents your character's physical
  power. Strength affects the following things:

  * The amount of weight you can carry/pick up
  * Your maximum inventory
  * Melee damage bonus (Damroll or Dam+) (both unarmed and weapon)
  * Each point of STR = 10 energy

  The strongest of all stats. The strength. You'll get this stat from
  punching those puny men (or women) right square in the jaw. Outside of
  combat, the pushup command will increase your STR.
