In the beginning there was only the pitch black of oblivion, and it was
called the Abyss.
Though the universe was naught but darkness, there existed even in that
most ancient age, the Eternal Dragon, who slumbered in the Abyss. How
many aeons they must have slept is unknown, but when the first awoke it
raged and at last the cosmos was born as Dragon battled Dragon. The blood
of the Dragons rained over the universe into stardust, and the bones of the
dead crystallized into the minerals that would become planets and
asteroids. When the war between the great Dragons had left only a
remaining few, the survivors vowed to never again kill their own kind. So
they went to rest again, transforming themselves into the mystical and
powerful Dragonballs before scattered themselves to the far corners of
the cosmos that their bloodshed had created.
Each planet touched by the awesome power of the Dragonballs was given the
boon of life, and so were born the great races of the Multiverse, each in
the divine imagine of the Dragon that had chosen their world, and the first
elders of each race became the Eternal Guardians whose powers were
bestowed to help safeguard the Dragonballs and the lives of all creatures
who had been born from the Dragon's power.
Such was Age of Ancients, and it has all but faded into memory. Even the
mighty Dragonballs, whose power was the building blocks of all life have
become lost beyond myth, beyond legend, beyond memory. Even when the
Dragonballs were passed hand to hand throughout the ancient times, or
rested in uncompromisable solitude amongst the treasure troves of kings, or
the graves of dead men, their power remained mysterious and unknown. For
ages longer than recorded history the Dragonballs slept...
Until the Age of Ruin.
Born from the first hellish fires of Epitome, a warrior by the name of Kaon
mastered the ultimate fighting power, and harnessed it to test the great
warriors of the Age of Legends. One by one they were felled, and the
worlds upon which were the battlefield for such tests were burned to
cinder. When the lives of every living creature was at last threatened to
be destroyed, the Quadrant Kais made a desperate gambit, and revived one of
the ancient, Eternal Dragons.
The true events on that final day of the Age of Ruin is uncertain, but when
the sun finally set over the Supreme Kai's planet in the far reaches of the
afterlife, Kaon was defeated, the Dragon's power had been exhausted, and
when it fell back to sleep in its mystical Dragonballs, it absorbed all the
Ki energy in the universe.
For ten thousand years the universe has not seen the terrible power of Ki,
The power that Kaon had mastered to nearly destroy all life. For ten
thousand years the universe has been at peace, and the Age of Ruin, like
the Dragonballs, faded into nothing more than myth.
But something stirs within the cosmos. Power once more floods into the
living veins of every creature, and those who have attuned themselves to
the martial arts have begun to once more develop the powers and abilities
reminiscent of the legendary ages.
Will the emergence of these new Ascended Warriors shift the course of the
universe towards harmony? Or destruction?
Only the Eternal Dragons may know.
