HELP GMCP
GMCP SUPPORT
DB Infinity supports the following GMCP packages. Clients should negotiate
GMCP using the standard Telnet GMCP option before expecting updates.
CHARACTER
Char.Info
Player name, race, and powerlevel rank.
Char.Vitals
Current/max hit points, current/max energy, base PL, current PL, and
racial resources such as ichor, zeal, resonance, or heart resource.
Char.Stats
Current and base strength, speed, spirit, and fortitude. Also includes
current/max armor, zeni, and session/daily PL, energy, zeni, and stat gains.
Char.Target
Current combat target name, hit points, max hit points, and race. The
target is cleared when combat ends, including fleeing and sparring.
Char.Effects
Active shields, forms, buffs, racial effects, timers, combat states,
PvP flags, negative effects, and activity states.
Char.Equipment
Items currently equipped, including name, layer, count, and equipment slot.
Char.Inventory
Items directly carried by the character, including name, layer, and count.
Container contents are not recursively included.
ROOMS AND MAPS
Room.Info
Room number, plain-text name, sector, area, visible exits, selected room
flags, description, and planet.
Hidden exits are not included. Currently the only reported room flag is
"htanks".
Map.Definition
Local map dimensions, styles, and rendering metadata.
Map.Snapshot
Current local map rows and map rendering data.
COMMUNICATION
Comm.Channel
Channel name, message text, and sending player.
Comm.Auction
Current auction item, starting bid, current bid, timer state, item name,
type, properties, weight, value, powerlevel, layer, wear information,
stat bonuses, and armor rating.
Bidder identity is never sent.
UPDATE BEHAVIOR
Most character, room, equipment, inventory, effect, and auction packages are
cached and only sent when their values change.
Comm.Channel messages are sent immediately to eligible GMCP clients.
Room.Info is sent when GMCP is enabled and when the player receives a room
look/movement update.
All text fields are JSON escaped. Room and item names are sanitized so
server color codes are not included.
Imported from the game’s own help, and only staff can change it — a help file that quietly stops matching the game reads as authoritative and is wrong. If it has changed in game, send the new text through the contact form and somebody will paste it in.
