Imported from the game’s own help, and only staff can change it — a help file that quietly stops matching the game reads as authoritative and is wrong. If it has changed in game, send the new text through the contact form and somebody will paste it in.

                              Compare

The compare command has been completely overhauled to show you a lot of
data.
Compare requires at least one input <item>. This would be a keyword of any
item that you possess, such as "Belt".
Typing 'compare belt' might show you something like this:

The first line shows you that this is in the location Waist and is in the layer 16.

Compare assumes that the layer and location based on the item you've targeted
in your command. If you have another belt you would use "dot" numbering to
see the next item like compare 2.belt. Compare looks through all your bags,
equipped items, and your inventory, so sometimes when you're targeting an
item you might be grabbing something else.

Compare will NOT show "nolayers" items, which are hidden from eqsearch
and the layers command as well. Compare will also only show items that
are UNDER your current Powerlevel. It does not consider any other flags
like "only-human" so cross referencing other info might be useful.
Unfortunately the command is pretty much at the max width so more info
is hard to include.

Keep in mind that compare also shows the MAX possible for variable stat
items so while those items might have larger totals, it might be much
harder to obtain the item in that stat total.
